16:25 21 September 2012
The golden anniversary of the largest type of main-line diesel loco used by British Railways is being celebrated in Dereham this weekend.
The Mid Norfolk Railway is hosting a Class 47 gala to mark 50 years since the first one of the 512 of the locos was put in to service.
Nine Class 47s from around the country have been brought together for the event, which started on Friday and continues until Sunday.
One is the Royal Train engine and five have been brought to the county by rail from the National Railway Museum and other locations around Britain.
The Stratford Class 47 Group has re-painted one their fleet for the weekend and it used to haul the express passenger trains between Norwich and London in the 1970s and 80s.
Trains will be running every hour between Dereham and Wymondham Abbey.
