Further strike action by members of the Fire Brigades’ Union in Norfolk will take place from 7pm until midnight tomorrow, and the county’s fire and rescue service is urging the public to be vigilant and take extra care.
The action is being undertaken due to a dispute between the national government and the FBU over changes to the national pension scheme.
While the fire service will continue to operate a 999 response service, calls will be prioritised as they come in.
Nigel Williams, Norfolk’s chief fire officer, said: “We know industrial action will put extra demand on the service so I would urge the public to be extra vigilant, especially at a time when more candles are lit in the home and more cooking takes place.”
