For most, sitting in a squelchy bath of beans is cringe-inducing enough.
But brave Iceland staff Penny Fowler and Ros Yarham took the charity challenge to the extreme - when they invited shoppers to tip whatever food stuff they wanted over them as they sat in their self-made “pool of doom” in Cromer today.
The fearless pair sat still as eager volunteers poured various goopy items over their heads throughout the morning until they ended up sitting in two inches of oozy ingredients.
Among the mix was salad cream, tomato sauce, chicken curry, a tin of mackerel, spaghetti, ravioli, coleslaw and instant mashed potato. But the smiling duo were not fazed as they sat in the slimy concoction, and urged shoppers to donate a pound and take part in the fun.
Mrs Fowler, 51, said: “It makes your skin feel lovely and soft and you’re alright until you move, when you move it’s cold.
“We have got a hose out the back, we’ll get a hose down before we get in the car and hopefully my husband will have a sense of humour and have some bin bags to put me in.”
Their charity stunt is part of a week of fundraising activities being carried out by Iceland staff to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research and a local charity the store will chose at a later date.
