Four days of fun-packed activities are in store as the BeachLife activity outreach for children and young people is held on Sheringham sea-front.
The mission will build on the success of last year’s event and organisers are gearing up for a bumper attendance this year.
The event, endorsed by Scripture Union, runs from August 28-31 and is open to everyone from toddlers up to age 17.
Activities will include sports, drama, creative bible teaching, crafts, beach games, inflatables, and a magician.
The fun will start at 10.30am each day with the Beach Special, where all ages will come together at the cliff-top marquee at The Leas on the Esplanade for music, games, drama and laughter, and to introduce the day’s theme, which will be one of the miracles of Jesus.
The children and young people will then split into age-groups for their Going Deeper, to explore that day’s theme in more depth before breaking for lunch.
The afternoons will consist of team challenges and competitions, and the visit on Thursday of Christian magician Steve Price. The fun will conclude on the Friday with a circus-themed afternoon and barbecue on the Leas, with music and circus skills. Last year’s event attracted nearly 100 children and young people on the final afternoon, and the Leas resounded with laughter as they enjoyed circus activities, stocks, plate-spinning, sumo-wrestling, space-hoppers, and a bouncy castle.
Evening activities from 6pm for over-eights will include a treasure hunt around the town on the Wednesday, and beach sports and laser games on the Thursday. Over 11’s will also enjoy the beach sports and laser games from 7pm on the Thursday, as well as a putting challenge on Tuesday and Sheropoly competition around the town on the Wednesday from 7pm.
“Last year’s BeachLife was a huge success,” said youth pastor Pete Skivington, the event co-ordinator,
“Large numbers of children and young people had loads of fun whilst finding out more about God, and feedback was been extremely positive, so we are expecting even greater numbers this year.”
