Home-owners on Abbey House on Market Street in Shipdham woke up as parts of the front end of their house, where their bedroom is, fell to the ground .

Fire crews from Dereham, Watton and the heavy rescue pump from Carrow were sent to the house to assist.

The couple who live there were unhurt but will have to stay with family in Dereham whilst their house is made safe.

The homeowner, who did not wish to be named, said she was in the kitchen when the bricks fell.

Her husband was in bed but she said because he is deaf he didn’t hear the crash and both were unhurt.

Norfolk police were called to help with any diversions on the main road.

  • Did the police go to set up diversions or to find something to trip over to make a claim?
