There will be plenty to get your taste buds tingling as Beccles town centre is transformed with a food and drink extravaganza.
The Beccles Food and Drink Festival will take place on Saturday, May 26, with more than 50 stalls selling a variety of raw and cooked food, preserves, pickles, oils and other condiments, confectionery, and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
Among the local producers will be the Chet and Waveney Vineyard will be making their first appearance at the event, while from further afield The Chutney Barn, Curry Pie and Mr Bees will be attending.
In addition to the town centre, stalls will be set up in and around St Michael’s Church, and also in the Public Hall, where East Coast College will be running a cookery theatre throughout the event, consisting of a variety of cookery demonstrations and talks.
There will also be music and children’s entertainment around the town centre to add to the atmosphere.
Paul Parravani, organising the event with a small team and the support of Beccles Lions, said: “We are pleased to have Beccles Lions fully on board this year, and it will be great to make it a joint effort with them and Beccles Business and Tourism Association.
“We have some great new producers displaying their wares this year, including wine made in Bergh Apton and cider from Harleston. We are again supporting local charities by allocating a number of free stalls in the town centre on the day.
“This is now the fourth year of the Food and Drink Festival, which has become a popular event in the calendar for both producers and visitors alike.”
Food trail leaflets will be available from the Festival Information Point and a variety of town centre businesses on the day.
Visitors are also encouraged to use public transport to the town, or make use of the free park and ride minibuses from the festival car park at Beccles Quay.
The festival rill run from 10am to 4pm.
