Former speedway world champion and ex-King’s Lynn Stars rider Michael Lee has denied charges of sexual assault and rape.

Lee, 55, of Worlington, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape, two counts of sexual assault and a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The alleged offences are said to have happened between June 2008 and December 2012.

Lee rose to global fame after winning the world title in 1980 aged just 21 and rode for teams including King’s Lynn, Poole and Boston.
