Glyn Walden, who served as a town councillor for 20 years and was mayor on two occasions, resigned from Diss Town Council in June.

He will receive the title on September 26 for his outstanding service to Diss and for the many concerts and events organised by him over the decades, raising thousands for charitable causes.

Mr Walden is still a district councillor for Diss at South Norfolk Council.
