A former Easton College student will be remembered by three friends who embarked on a unique road trip in an old black cab to raise money for people affected by epilepsy.

Oliver Scott-Greenard, from Ormesby St Margaret, died on November 29 last year at the agricultural college, near Norwich, where he had been a student since September 2011.

And now Chris Greenard, 49, Gary Attew, 47, and Nigel Duffield, 47, from North Norfolk, will be returning to England today after taking part in the 2012 Screwbally Rally to drive about 1,800 miles across Europe.

Participants, affectionately named 'Screwballers', are asked to raise at least 250 per team for Epilepsy Action.

'This is a cruel and sudden disease,' Mr Greenard explained. 'But it can be kept under control by medication.'

Decorated with sunflowers and sponsors' names, the taxi cost the team 500 from an online auction site. The rules of the rally state that the car used must cost no more than 750 but once the car is bought they can do what they like to it as long as the car remains road legal.

All teams met at a starting point just outside Dover last Thursday and then caught a ferry to Calais in France to head off in convoy to Nancy. From there, they made their way to Asti in Italy, Liechtenstein and Dijon in France and are expected to return to Calais to catch the ferry back to Dover today.

Last year the event raised more than 41,000 for UK and international charities.
