Great Yarmouth’s new alfresco food and music event in King Street starts tonight.
The free event, taking place in St George’s Plaza from 4pm to 9pm, is a chance to enjoy the recently refurbished quarter as well as tasters for the Great Yarmouth Food Festival, which runs for three days in September.
Known as King StrEAT, it has been organised by Great Yarmouth Borough Council, St George’s Theatre and a new community group called King StrEAT which includes some of the traders involved in the food festival.
St George’s Theatre Café Bar will be open and there will be food stalls, live music,, salsa dancing performances and free have-a-go salsa sessions.
Also involved will be The Patio café and Dogzilla Streetfood. And if all goes well, organisers hope to stage King Streat and further outdoor artistic and cultural events during 2015.
Today’s event will finish in time for the crowds to head to the seafront for the town’s free firework display at 10pm.
Andrew McGovern, who runs the Waffle Works and is a member of King StrEAT, said: “King Streat and the Great Yarmouth Food Festival will further promote the King Street area and the Great Yarmouth borough more widely as a place for culture, top local food, and entertainment.”
Due to its success last year, the Great Yarmouth Food Festival has expanded from the one day to three days, between September 26 and September 28.
The third annual festival will happen in the Market Place and include produce for sale, cooking demonstrations, and free tastings.
