A range of French produce on offer at the European market, which will soon be coming to Diss.

First ever European food market to visit Norfolk town

The first ever European food and craft market will be held in Diss at the end of October offering food, children’s toys and other items.

Professional market traders from France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland and Poland will be setting up stalls in the town’s Market Place on October 20.

The stallholders, wearing traditional costumes, will be selling Brittany biscuits, olives, Italian nougat, cheeses, sausages, tartiflette (a cheese and potato dish from the Alps), charcuterie, fresh bread, croissants and a range of freshly made crepes.

As well as food, there will also be other products, including handbags and leather items, Marseille soaps, lavender, children’s toys and pashminas.

Most of the products on sale will come from each stallholder’s region, where they are produced by small organisations such as family businesses, farms or small factories using traditional methods.

All of the traders will also wear their traditional local costumes from 100 years ago, as well as decorating their stall to represent the region of the country they come from.

Market organiser Olivier Simonin said: “The market will provide visitors with a true flavour of the European continent. People will experience all the tastes of Europe in one market.”

If this is the "first ever" then what did i go to in Downham Market last year. Where i purchased various items from French and Italian sellers?
