This is the first photograph of the scene of the helicopter crash which killed four people on the north Norfolk coast near Cley.

The image was taken by local photographer Jody Lawrence, and shows a search helicopter at the scene of the crash.

Referring to an area of the photo to the right of the search helicopter, he said: “I thought it was a boat till i saw it on the big screen - the crashed one must be on the right just under the water.”

The photo was taken at 11.25pm, about four and a half hours after the crash, from about half a mile from the crash site, and shows an area to the west of Big Pool on Cley Marshes, looking over the reserve towards the beach.

Mr Lawrence said: “[The crashed helicopter] seems to be actually on the beach, but I imagine that the tide has now come in around it. I think they have covered it up.”

He said there are now about half a dozen cars in the Cley beach car park, and people are sweeping the beach with torches.

Sarah Whittley, who returned to the scene in the early hours of Wednesday morning, also said many men are now searching the beach with torches, but the road blocks have now been lifted.
