A brand new one-day arts festival especially for young people will be showcased in Lowestoft this half-term.

On Tuesday, October 23, the first ever 'NessFest' will take place in Lowestoft with free arts activities aimed exclusively at 11 to 19 year olds.

Organised by the Lowestoft Cultural Education Partnership, with Lowestoft Rising and supported by Lowestoft Vision and Lowestoft Library, events will take place at Lowestoft Library, the Marina Theatre, in the Britten Centre and across the town centre between noon and 6pm.

Activities include a computer games design workshop, print your own tote bag activity, comic art drop-in event, graffiti games, chill out zone, drama game challenge, actual reality arcade, gory make-up, heritage hack design lab and seaside singing.

The first 100 young people to attend any workshop will receive a free food voucher for Sam's Coffee House in Bevan Street East.

Phil Aves, change manager for Lowestoft Rising, said: 'This is an exciting new event for Lowestoft and thanks to the support of our partners, we're delighted to be able to offer local children and young people the opportunity to experience such a wide range of arts activities.'

The Lowestoft Cultural Education Partnership brings schools together with arts and cultural organisations and creative professionals to ensure local children and young people have access to valuable and creative cultural experiences.

NessFest is delivered in partnership with Making Waves Together, Waveney District Council, Creative Collisions, BLOC, Sams Coffee House, Land and Shore, the Marina Theatre, Suffolk Libraries, Lowestoft Rising, Flipside, Norfolk and Norwich Festival, Lowestoft Vision and Chaplaincy Lowestoft.
