Two appliances from Carrow and Earlham attended reports of a building fire off Gentleman’s Walk in the city at just after 7.50pm tonight.

A spokesman in the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service control room said a member of the public reported the sound of an “explosion” with “smoke issuing” but on arrival firefighters discovered it was caused by a ruptured air conditioning unit.
