No-one was reported hurt, and no other vehicles are believed to be involved in the incident, which happened on Howe Lane near Poringland.

The scale of the response was due to the presence of acetylene cylinders, which can be used for welding.

A fire service spokesman said the fire happened in the remote location, so no-one was in immediate danger, and no evacuations were necessary.

The fire service was called at 6.22pm, and one crew from Carrow, two from Earlham and a water carrier from Hethersett were dispatched.

They are using main jets to cool the cylinders, as well as breathing apparatus and a thermal image camera.

According to London Fire Brigade website: “The danger of acetylene cylinders exploding means a hazard zone of a 200m radius is initially set up every time they are reported to be involved in a fire. This can remain in place for many hours, causing major disruption to roads and public transport and evacuations from homes and businesses.”
