Fire crews tackle building fire near Northrepps

The building fire, which spread into the roof void, started just after 11pm on Friday night in Crossdale Street, near Northrepps.

Fire appliances from Cromer, Sheringham and Mundesley and the aerial ladder platform from Earlham with a support appliance attended the incident.

A spokesman for the fire service said crews wearing breathing apparatus had used ladders and main and hose reel jets supplemented by a hydrant to extinguish in the early hours of the morning.

A thermal image camera was used to check for hot spots and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the property of smoke.

Gary Palmer, 53, who lives next door to the house where the fire started said: “They think now it may have been an oil fire in a radiator in the bedroom or a chimney fire.”

He added that as well as the fire crews there had also been an ambulance and police. He said no one had been hurt in the incident and that the building was still structurally sound.
