The crash between the white Citreon Berlingo and black Mercedes happened at the Sainsbury’s roundabout, towards Elveden, at about 1.30pm.

The black Mercedes overturned at the first layby of the stretch of single carriageway. Firefighters released a man in his 50s from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment. He was conscious and breathing but had upper back pain. He was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance.

The road was blocked for about two hours but is now clear.
