A special screening of I, Daniel Blake, Ken Loach's 2016 drama starring Dave Johns, Hayley Squires and Dylan McKiernan will be taking place at Cinema City in Norwich on Saturday, February 25 at 10am to help highlight the hunger crisis in our country and raise crucial funds for Norwich Foodbank.

The event has been organised by Daisy Norfolk, through ourscreen, an on-demand cinema platform that allows members of the public to control their local cinema and create their own film screenings.

Mrs Norfolk, 51, said: 'I wanted to do something to support a great charity who are working hard to help those that are going hungry. This just shouldn't be an issue in our country today.'

She added: 'I selected I, Daniel Blake as the film for the event because it's particularly pertinent right now, it epitomises what's happening in the UK, especially with regards to politics.

'The film also contains a very emotive scene that takes place in a foodbank, where one of the characters is struggling with hunger and I think it will really highlight the problems Norwich Foodbank is working to tackle.'

Clive Lewis, Labour MP for Norwich South and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, will be attending the event to show his support.

Mrs Norfolk also hopes other well-known figures will be in attendance, she said: 'I would really love it if a member of the film's cast could be there, I'm currently trying to make that happen.'
