A planned festive family fun day in Lowestoft town centre today (Saturday) has had to be postponed because of the weather.

With high winds hitting the east coast this morning and the forecast of rainfall for later, the conditions have prompted organisers from Lowestoft Vision to postpone the entertainment for a week.

Emma King, BID Manager for Lowestoft Vision, said: “Unfortunately we have had to postpone today’s Festive Family Fun Day until next Saturday due to the high winds and rain. The inflatables can’t be used in these conditions and we felt it better to postpone the event that only put on part of it, the forecast for today is terrible.

“It was a very difficult and disappointing decision but safety comes first every time.”

The entertainment, which was set to feature a snowglobe, soft play trailer, rodeo reindeer, a walkabout snowman and much more outside of Beales department store, will now take place next Saturday.

However, Santa’s Grotto will still be open between 10am and 4pm today in the Marina Theatre cafè for people to see Father Christmas.
