Festival-goers flood into Norfolk Showground as Sundown returns for its fifth year

Happy campers continue to pour into the Norfolk Showground in Norwich this evening as Sundown Festival returns for its fifth year this weekend.

With gates opening at 11am this morning traffic doesn’t appear to be too much of a problem heading into rush hour, with slight delays at the Longwater roundabout and near to the Showground itself.

Some of the biggest names in music will perform over the weekend, including Craig David, Rag’N’Bone Man, Pendulum and You Me At Six.

Music kicks off this evening on the Castle and Mystree stages in the campsite - boasting the likes of Jaguar Skills and Giggs among the line-up.

On the main stage on Saturday, Rag’N’Bone man, who won the British Breakthrough Act at the 2017 Brit Awards, will take to the stage and perform hits including ‘Human’, ‘Skin’ and ‘As you Are’.

Also joining him will be comeback king Craig David, who has enjoyed chart success since returning from his seven year hiatus with number one album ‘Following My Intuition’.

Sunday’s highlights include X Factor 2016 winner Louisa Johnson, who recently supported Olly Murs at his Thetford Forest gig, You Me At Six and drum and bass duo Pendulum.

Local artists including Thetford rapper Franko Fraize and singer-songwriter John Galea from Caister are just some of the local names among the line up.

The weather is set to stay mild over the weekend with sunny spells and highs of 18C on Saturday and Sunday will be cloudy with highs of 19C.

This year’s Sundown is expected to be bigger and better than ever and build on last year’s record figures which saw 40,000 fans flock to the Showground.

Laurence Bagnall, Sundown event director, said: “With massive names like Craig David, Pendulum and Rag N Bone man on the lineup and more music than ever before for visitors to choose from across five stages, this year is the biggest and best yet for Sundown Festival.

“We’re hoping for a sunny weekend for what we’re proud to call the best closing party of the festival season!’

The arena gates open at 12pm and close at 10.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
