Eight finalists from the Edge Apprenticeships in Food and Farming scheme were given their certificates by Prince Edward at the Anglia Farmers stand on Wednesday.

Awards were given to the top apprentices in three categories.

Laura Claxton, 18, from Woodbridge in Suffolk, was announced as the winner of the “work based performance” category. She is currently working towards her Level 4 agricultural business management apprenticeship at Wantisden Hall Farms.

Alex Makepeace, 17, from Potter Heigham, who works at Bindwell Ltd and is completing a Level 2 apprenticeship in crop production, won the “college performance” category.

The winner of the “community and industry involvement” award was Marshall Drew, an 18-year-old Level 3 agricultural crop production apprentice from Horningtoft, near Fakenham, who is currently working at Salle Farms Company.

Edge Apprenticeships is a collaborative venture between agricultural purchasing groups Anglia Farmers and AtlasFram Group, in conjunction with Easton and Otley College, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, Norfolk County Council and Suffolk County Council.
