A farmer suffered chest and internal injuries after being attacked by a cow in west Suffolk.

Suffolk Accident Rescue Service was mobilised to the agricultural incident in West Row, near Mildenhall this evening.

The farmer was attacked by a cow, which was protecting its calf, at 5.40pm. The 52-year-old man suffered chest and internal injuries in the incident.

The SARS volunteer doctor administered a painkiller and a drug to limit internal bleeding and the man was transported to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds for further examination.
