A nine-year-old boy died after a 'tragic accident' in his bedroom on New Years Day.

Joshua Stadius-Horn, from Watton, was found hanging while playing with his three brothers, an inquest in Norwich heard today.

The boys had been sent upstairs at around 8am to tidy their bedroom – but the alarm was raised when a sibling went to their mother's bedroom to say Joshua wasn't helping and was pretending to be dead.

His mother performed CPR, and he was flown to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he was taken in to pediatric intensive care and later died with his parents at his bedside.

In a statement Joshua's mother Helen Stadius-Horn said: 'Josh was an amazing son and brother and we are all devastated by such a tragic accident.

'We love him so much and he will be very much missed.'

At the inquest opening and closing Norfolk's coroner Jacqueline Lake said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the boy's death.

'It was a tragic accident in which Joshua was not aware and died not knowing the outcome of his actions,' she said.

Police officer Donna Flanaghan told the inquest there were never any concerns from social services.

A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
