There are signs for cautious optimism over a Fakenham charity's fight for survival but public support is still desperately needed to keep its doors open.
First Focus reported earlier this month that it could close within weeks if new funding cannot be found.
The charity held a fund-raising family fun day and summer fair at its Cattle Market Street home on Thursday.
First Focus helps a wide range of people, including some of the most vulnerable in society, by hosting clubs and support groups as well as a social meeting place at its drop-in centre twice a week.
It needs to raise £25,000 per year to operate but is raising money in the short-term to ensure the charity can remain open while applications for grants are dealt with.
First Focus co-ordinator April Simnor said: 'We are raising more than the £100 a week that we need to keep the doors open at the moment and I'm confident that First Focus will remain open for the foreseeable future.
'Members of the public have been absolutely fantastic, donating money, coming up with fund-raising ideas and generally supporting the good work First Focus does in the community. But we really need that support to continue to keep this vital service going.'
About 100 people attended the fun day.
A charity leg wax which was due to take place on the day has been postponed and will be held at a date to be arranged in the future.
Meanwhile, First Focus will host a training course on September 11 to help people start working or volunteering.
The course will be run by an organisation called Motiv8 and looks at building confidence, rational emotional behaviour therapy, computer research, CV writing and interview skills.
