"I crave no other, nor no better man" by Linda Chapman will be among the works on display at the exhibition.

More than 60 artists belonging to the Norwich 20 Group are taking part in a new exhibition which pays tribute to a former N20G chairman.

We Are Here Already will be at The Forum, in Norwich, from January 12 to 23, and the exhibition takes its name from a work of art by the late David Holgate who died in 2014. His coloured letter carving on slate will be at the heart of the exhibition as a tribute to Mr Holgate who was N20G chairman in 2007.

Mr Holgate also set up the group’s licentiate scheme - which each year sees up to four graduates from Norwich University of the Arts invited to exhibit with the group as licentiate members - and former and current N20G licentiate members are taking part in the new exhibition.

Martin Battye, N20G chairman, said: “David Holgate was one of the most enthusiastic members of Norwich 20 Group, always encouraging and supportive. The licentiate scheme is his legacy to the group and it is very appropriate that the title of our first exhibition of 2015 is a tribute to the man and his work. We will also miss his musical talent; his jazz trio with David on double bass, played for many years at our private view evenings.”

N20G is also combining with Norfolk Contemporary Craft Society and Norwich Contemporary Art Society to stage a David Holgate retrospective exhibition at The Hostry, at Norwich Cathedral, in December 2015. Two of David Holgate’s works, sculptures of Julian of Norwich and St Benedict, are located on the west front of the cathedral.
