Mr Dennis, 23, now lives and works in the capital but grew up in Overstrand where his parents Patricia and Philip, and older brother Steven, 25, still live.

He hopes to raise £2,000 with his feat for the charity Whizz-Kidz which provides equipment and support to help non-mobile children become more independent and get more out of life.

Mr Dennis attended the Belfry School in Overstrand, Cromer High School and Paston Sixth Form College before taking a four-year master’s degree in maths at the University of Bath.

He became interested in running while a member of the 1895 squadron Air Training Corps in Cromer and began running half marathons when he was a student at Bath.

He is training hard and occasionally runs from his home in Tower Hamlets to Greenwich so that he can familiarise himself with part of the marathon course.

He is employed in the technology department of RBS in The City and hopes to organise fund-raising events including a dress-down day at work, and an auction.

  • "The City"....seriously?? Its "London" or if you do insist on using "city, "the City"...what on earth do they teach at Journalism college these days? Or is it , as I suspect, you can call yourself a journalist these days just by collecting tokens from packets of cornflakes??
