The first peregrine falcon chick of 2014 hatched at Norwich Cathedral at about 7.40pm last night, it was confirmed today.

The Hawk and Owl Trust tweeted yesterday: “The first chick hatches at Norwich Cathedral. In fact it was still in half of its shell when the male comes in to see his new offspring. So keen was he that he almost pushes the female off the nest.”

The trust added tweeted this morning: “Our 1st #nrperegrines chick @nrw_cathedral got its first feed from mum at 06.17 this morning. It looks fit and well. We will post a video clip of this wonderful sight later today. More hatching expected soon so stay tuned.”
