RSPB offers volunteering opportunities in East Anglia

PUBLISHED: 10:11 02 January 2013

A nature charity is looking for four people with a passion for conservation who can dedicate a year to volunteering on its reserves in East Anglia.

The RSPB is offering residential internships, beginning in March, which will give volunteers the opportunity to spend two consecutive six-month periods working at some of the charity’s best nature reserves.

Interns will be provided with accommodation suitable for their placement in addition to training, mentoring, conservation work experience and networking opportunities.

Annie Sadler, volunteering development officer for the RSPB in the east, said: “Over 17,000 people are currently volunteering with the RSPB for wildlife and conservation, giving over one million hours of their time each year.

“But there’s plenty of room for more. Our full-time internships are an amazing opportunity and there is also a multitude of other ways to help us ensure there is a viable future for the natural world, no matter how much time or experience you have.”

People will be able to find out more about the work of the RSPB at an event at the Forum in Norwich on Saturday. Staff will be on hand to inform members of the public about all the wildlife it is working to protect and how people can support it. The free event takes place in the atrium of the Forum between 9am and 5pm.
