Campaigners are calling a public meeting to explain the ins and outs of a homes’ bid at Marina Quays in Great Yarmouth.

Developers want to build eight homes and reinstate a mix of residential and visitor moorings at the site close to Bure Park.

But an action group worried about public access among other things is bringing together officials, planners, councillors and developers to quiz them about the scheme.

One of its leaders Mike Sedgwick said he hoped the meeting at Great Yarmouth and Caister Golf Club at 6.30pm on Thursday October 4 would be well attended.

He said: “There are some people who support the development but they are in the main supporting the refurbishment and reinstatement of the moorings.

“Very few people say they are happy for eight new homes to be built here.

“We want everybody to come along and get clarity on what is being proposed so we can all go away being better informed about what is being suggested.

“We may not be any happier but we will at least know what is being proposed.

“This is not a lynch mob.

“We want to be able to understand what is being proposed and to be able to ask questions and work together to come up with what we all want which is an improvement on what is there.”

The meeting will be chaired by borough councillor Penny Carpenter with Broads Authority planners, a representative for MP Brandon Lewis, and the developers East Anglia Group and Everitt Marine Services also attending.
