Public exhibition on Ellough solar farm plans

A public exhibition takes place today as plans are developed to create one of the largest solar farms in the country on an airfield near Beccles.

Lincolnshire firm Lark Energy is hoping to build a 150-acre solar farm at Ellough airfield, predicting it would produce more energy in a year than is required to power homes in Beccles and Worlingham.

The company is aiming to submit a planning application for the site after the public exhibition about the farm, with the hope that work could start by the end of the year.

If approved, the company says the farm would produce around 30MWp of renewable electricity, an amount capable of powering 7,000 homes.

The exhibition is being held at Crowfoot Community Primary School, Ellough Road, Beccles, 3.30pm to 7pm today.
