On Saturday, the North Cove reserve between Lowestoft and Beccles was in the spotlight as an event was held to celebrate 40 years of management work at the site.
The reserve which is owned by Ben Blower, of the North Cove estate, and run by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust with help from the Beccles Bird Society and the Broads Authority and a group of volunteers.
About 50 people attended Saturday's 40th anniversary information day.
Matt Gooch, the reserve's warden said: 'At the trust we call this a hidden gem. As a wet woodland, it is the only reserve of its kind run by the trust.
'It has a rich habitat and is somewhere people can go to get away from it all – it is a lovely area.
Saturday's event saw volunteer of 25 years George Batchelor and the Suffolk Wildlife Trust's head of conservation Dorothy Casey answering visitors' questions about the reserve and its management.
Estate owner Ben Blower, whose father created the reserve, was also on hand to talk to people about some of the natural delights of the site,
