A 'give and take' recycling event in Mulbarton gave people a chance to reuse unwanted household goods and save electrical waste from being dumped in landfill sites.
In the space of a few hours, people from Mulbarton, Swardeston and Keswick, south of Norwich, brought 560 electrical items to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment event, run by South Norfolk Council.
In Mulbarton, 414 items were recycled and 52 were taken away for reuse.
In Swardeston and Keswick, where smaller satellite events took place, 30 items were recycled.
Keith Kiddie, the council's cabinet member for environment, said that the six events held so far had reused or recycled 3,820 electrical items, weighing more than 30 tonnes.
He said: 'The people of South Norfolk have chalked up another astonishing success.'
The social action project was chosen by local people and district councillors in the Northern River Valleys Neighbourhood Board.
The Northern River Valleys Neighbourhood Board meets again on Wednesday, November 14 at 7pm in Bawburgh Village Hall, Stocks Hill, to look at projects for next year.
