Breckland Council's Cabinet has drafted new measures to help improve air quality in Swaffham.

The plan was discussed at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, which identified a small area in the centre of Swaffham as an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in May 2017.

The measures came about after a detailed consultation period, conducted by a Steering Group of Breckland and partner organisations, was carried out with almost 200 people including residents and tourists.

Feedback showed high levels of support for potential changes to road layouts and education in schools as ways to better control air quality.

Cllr Alison Webb, Breckland Council Executive Member for People and Information, said: 'I would like to thank Cllr Wilkinson who led the working party, as well as the residents, organisations and other participants who were involved. We are pleased to learn that there is such a high level of local support.'
