Work has been completed on reinstating a stretch of beach at Hemsby that had been washed away due to bad weather conditions that led to six homes being demolished.
The sand access ramp recovery work has been finished by Great Yarmouth Borough Council and means the village’s independent lifeboat can be recovered after launches.
The major council operation started before Easter to transport lorries full of sand from Great Yarmouth and followed severe erosion along the beach that led to homes on The Marrams being condemned.
A council spokesman said: “Our work to reinstate the sloping sand access ramp to Hemsby beach is now complete.
“The ramp enables the lifeboat, once launched, to be recovered and also now enables cleaning crews to access the beach with machinery to clean up the debris left by the storm at Scratby.”
On Saturday morning the sixth condemned home on The Marrams was torn down by council contractors Anglian Demolition and Asbestos.
