Overstrand Evening WI members joined forces with Seal and Shore Watch, a charity which rescue seals, to rid the beach of plastics and general debris brought ashore during the winter months.

Spokesman Janet Ellis said: 'The total weight of the bags we collected was 35 kilos. In addition there was a pile of twisted metal, barrels and large pieces of moulded plastic.

'It was a wonderful effort on the part of the volunteers who should be proud to have cleared Overstrand's beach of potential marine pollutants. Thanks to North Norfolk District Council for lending pickers, providing bags and collection afterwards.'

We want to help you set up your own beach cleans. If you are interested in setting one up or have organised an event already, let us know at newsdesk@archant.co.uk
