An elderly woman was treated for smoke inhalation after a house blaze in Lowestoft.

Fire-fighters from Lowestoft North and Lowestoft South were called to Monckton Avenue in the town following reports of a house fire “with a person trapped.”

Crews were called out at 4.47pm yesterday (Monday), and they quickly had the blaze under control within 10 minutes of arrival, with an elderly woman treated for smoke inhalation.

A brigade spokesman said: “Crews were called to Monckton Avenue Lowestoft for a fire in a house with a person trapped. The fire was under control at 5.01pm and one elderly female was treated for smoke inhalation. All crews were back at their respective bases by 5.26pm.”
