Firefighters have been stood down after being called to reports of an elderly lady trapped in a car after it went into a ditch near the A47 in Swaffham this afternoon.

One crew from Swaffham was called to the scene, near the junction of the A47 and the A1122 Dereham Road west of the town, at 3.04pm but ended their involvement 10 minutes later after making the scene safe.

Police said the lady had been released from the red Honda Jazz “pretty quickly” after the accident, and there were no reports of any injuries.

Police remain on the scene while the car is recovered.

  • not sure of reasoning for this crash, but may well be time for licence review on elderly drivers.
