Music students at Sheringham High School got inspiration and tips when Britain’s Got Talent rising star Sam Kelly paid a visit.
The talented Sprowston lad is the son of a maths teacher from the school but spent the day in the music department.
The seriously committed musician and songwriter is midway through his music degree at the prestigious Brighton Institute of Modern Music.
Throughout the day Sam played and worked with the students and encouraged them to pursue a musical career. Head of Music Liz Morgan-Hart said, “We are very grateful to Sam for taking the time to come and share his musical experiences with our students. His playing and singing captivated all who heard it and his passion for music was inspirational.”
Asked how the day had gone, Sam said “The students were great. They were really polite, friendly and eager to learn.
“I’ve had a thoroughly good time and it was really well organised. I have been to another school and got mobbed,” he added.
“It’s been mad since Britain’s Got Talent. I can’t believe people are so interested. I’m just ordinary. I’ll be standing at the cashpoint and someone will whisper, ’Look he’s getting money from the cashpoint, wow!’ It’s crazy.”
Sam signed pictures, took snaps with the students and shook hundreds of hands. He even signed a few student planners. Hundreds of star-struck students jostled for his autograph at break and lunch.
