A Thetford primary school is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Redcastle Family School starting welcoming pupils in 1968 and to mark the milestone a celebratory day is being held on Monday, January 8.

Youngsters have been invited to come in party dress or in outfits from the 1960s.

A time capsule will be buried and the pupils will enjoy a lunch made up of favourites from the decade the school opened.

Liz Russell acting headteacher at the school said former students and teachers are invited to attend the St Martin’s Way school from 2pm.

Tea and cake will be available and people can share their memories of the school and bring along memorabilia.

At 3.30pm a tour for the visitors will be given around the school.

She said: “It would be nice if people are able to turn up to come in and see what is what and have a chat.”
