A new classroom block and newly installed trim trail obstacle course were officially opened at Snettisham Primary School by North West Norfolk MP Henry Bellingham yesterday.

The new block has cost about £250,000 and the trim trail was paid for thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

Deputy headteacher Emma Hunt said: “It was a really nice day and we had many representatives from the local community.

“The new block means the school can take on more children and have an increased intake of pupils over the next few years. The old one was beyond repair and was demolished - it was just two sheds, really.”

Headteacher Nicky Darley added: “It is a very exciting new era. This will give the school impetus to develop and sustain available education for the community of Snettisham.”

West Norfolk Academies Trust executives headteacher Andrew Johnson said: “We are very proud of the achievement. Having been in special measures it is now a strong and thriving primary school. This is a significant investment in the future of the school and we look forward to many young people and families joining this thriving village community.”

Sir Henry said it was a really important day for Snettisham village and a historic day for the school.

“I would like to congratulate all those that made it happen and it has secured the future of the school for the next generation,” he added.
