Sheringham Primary School has gained a prestigious Artsmark gold award for its efforts in celebrating and encouraging children’s creativity.
Handed out by Arts Council England, the awards recognise schools’ commitment to arts and cultural education, with schools able to apply for awards ranging from bronze, to platinum.
Sheringham Primary art co-ordinator Becky Robinson said staff and pupils were delighted to receive the award, which acknowledged the school’s “fantastic” arts provision.
As well as having an opportunity to work with resident artist Kate Munro on projects including a sculpture trail, pupils take part in an annual arts and culture week, have a chance to make a float for the town carnival every year, and have access to clubs ranging from pottery, art and drawing, to choir, ukulele and handbells.
Mrs Robinson said: “The award celebrates how fantastic our arts provision is and hopefully shows parents how much we care about fostering children’s creativity and inspiring them.”
