Nine local primary schools are among hundreds praised by education minister David Laws for results in this year’s tests for 11 year olds.
His congratulatory letters follow last week’s league tables, which showed Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge near the bottom of the national table, and the Ofsted annual report for the East of England, which raised concerns about primaries in Norfolk and Suffolk.
Mr Laws wrote to Wilby Primary in Eye, Wreningham and Saxlingham Nethergate primaries in Norwich, Beaupre Primary in Wisbech, and Dickleburgh, Fairstead, Filby, Colkirk and Spooner Road primaries.
Mr Laws said: “All these excellent primary schools have given their children the best possible start in life – and this also means they are ready to thrive at secondary school.
“The teachers, pupils and governors deserve to be congratulated for their work and I hope other schools learn from their achievements so all children receive an excellent education.”
