A unique wedding present for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - gifted to them by creative North Walsham students - has been deemed anything but pants after receiving a royal seal of approval.
Pupils from Millfield Primary School were surprised and delighted to receive a letter from the royal couple thanking them for their gift - a specially created book entitled ‘The Wedding Pants’.
The book was put together to celebrate the royal nuptials and features illustrations of underwear designed by the children, suitable for both Kate and William.
Their undergarment designs included Ninja Pants for the prince, in case he ever found himself in a tricky situation, and Party Knickers for his wife, which could be worn at all the gala events she attends.
And their efforts have now received royal approval after their teacher Kerri Clarke received the letter from Buckingham Palace.
It said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to thank you and Beech class for the wonderful messages and copy of the book The Wedding Pants.
“Their Royal Highnesses have been overwhelmed by the incredibly thoughtful messages they have received and were immensely touched that you all should take the trouble to write as you did.”
Miss Clarke was delighted to receive the letter, which will now be displayed proudly at the school in Recreation Road.
She said: “I think the children are proud and really pleased with the fact they got a response.”
Their designs were inspired by the illustrated Nicholas Allan book The Queen’s Knickers, a title they enjoy in class which details the different types of underwear the monarch may wear for various royal duties.
“The children had such fun. I only imagined they’d do one or two designs each but they’d done eight or nine different pairs. Their enthusiasm was amazing,” Miss Clarke added.
