I want to complain about this content:
This failure to cope is pernicious. Now if I was considering going into Norwich later today and looked at the weather forecast which has just light to moderate precipitation forecast ,in former days I would have said no problem, I can drive in snow and ice. But these days I might say to myself-if I use a park and ride there is no guarantee that the P&R buses will keep running if there is a bit of snow. There is precedent for Norwich city centre getting log jammed after a few flakes because of inadequate gritting and poor driving and we all know that if there is a bump on one of the roads like the Southern bypass it is closed for ages while the police undertake an interminable investigation. So with a knowledge of past incompetences I would be inclined to say it is not worth the bother. This is how our attitudes to what should not be a problem are changed. That and newspapers and weather forecasters being in constant hysteria mode.As I said I went to school pretty much everyday of the 62-63 winter and can recall Eastern Counties bus drivers getting buses through heavy snowstorms and snowy roads in the rest of the 60s . I don't think I am misremembering the stoicism and nor can I recall the EDP reporters at the time writing like a bunch of hysterical children.
