A long-running debate among Norfolk schools and colleges about the future shape of the school calendar is set to settled later this term.
They will be consulted about two options - one with a shorter summer holiday and a longer October break, the other more similar to the status quo.
They aim to make a decision within the next two months.
The debate has been sparked by legislation which will give each school the power to set its own term dates.
However, even if one option is chosen by majority of Norfolk schools, it will only be voluntary, and governing bodies of individual schools could still decide to set different dates.
