Children had fun with science as they witnessed crazy experiments while learning about energy.

Years one to six at Henderson Green Primary School, in Norwich, took part in special boffin-led workshops yesterday where they found out about how energy is created and how to conserve energy and be environmentally friendly. The event was part of Norwich-based Briar Chemicals schools programme.

Janet Clay, headteacher at the Irstead Road school, said: “Seeing the science boffins in action has helped bring science, and learning in general, to life for children. The children have all enjoyed the workshops which have been informative, practical and really entertaining! Just this morning on the radio there was an item about encouraging young people to continue with the study of science.”

Budding scientist Vinnie Willetts, nine, said: “I 100pc love science, a scientist is what I want to be when I grow up. I really liked seeing the Science Boffin.”

Savannah French, eight, added: “My favourite part was when he made the torch that didn’t have a battery work by shaking it. It was also really fun to see him blowing toilet roll in assembly with a giant hairdryer! I like science a bit more now.”
