More than 75 youngsters made a splash at the University of East Anglia today as part of a swimming festival.
Children from special schools around the county came to the Sportspark to compete in the annual Active Norfolk Youth Games swimming event.
Designed to cater for swimmers and non-swimmers, the festival celebrated skills that can be achieved during swimming lessons.
The enthusiastic pupils played games including waterpolo and aquadance, competed in races and were given information on water safety.
Each child was presented with a certificate and a medal by Active Norfolk’s mascot Olly the elephant at the end of the day.
The Active Norfolk Youth Games makes its eleventh return this year. The two-part event will include a multi-sports day on June 18.
Ellen Vanlint, disability officer for Active Norfolk, described the event as “fantastic”.
She added: “This is always a fantastic event and a chance for the children to try some new games and skills as well as the usual relay races.
“It was a really good morning, lots of smiles, splashing and laughter throughout. We look forward to the next part of the games come June.”
