Dad's Army, Robbie Williams, John Peel, the Kray twins and even The Parish Councillor's Guide all make the list, but no-one has owned up to owning a copy of 50 Shades of Grey.
They are all among the books that have so far appeared in 'shelfies' - snapshots of someone's bookshelf - sent in by our readers.
View our photo gallery of readers' shelfies here
The idea was inspired by North Walsham High School as it celebrated World Book Day, and the shelfie is a book-lover's version of the 'selfie', a self-portrait people share on social media.
The idea was so popular at North Walsham High that we are asking our readers to share in the fun, and send us their own shelfie for our growing photo galley.
Email your shelfie to martin.george@archant.co.uk or tweet it to him @geomr, and tell us what it reveals about you.
