There was just a light dusting of snow across Norfolk this morning, ahead of predictions of as much as 8cms to fall this afternoon.
Two schools closed, with heating problems at Larkman Primary School, in Norwich, and Wimbotsham & Stow Community School, near Downham Market, meaning a further day off school for pupils.
Staff at Larkman Primary were still expected to attend but thermal clothing has been advised.
Meanwhile, over-running engineering works caused disruption on the Norwich to London rail line for commuters until around 9.30am.
Delays of up to 20 minutes were being warned of between Shenfield and London Liverpool Street.
Otherwise, there was little other disruption around the county, although roads and pavements were slippey due to low temperatures and people were being advised to be careful.
A message posted on the official Norfolk County Council Twitter account, @NorfolkCC, read: “We gritted earlier this morning. Gritting helps melt ice/snow & improves grip but isn’t a cure-all so please take extra care.”
While Norfolk Constabulary was also advising drivers to take extra care, using its Twitter account, @NorfolkPolice, to say: “Some areas affected by snow this morning - leave extra space between you and the vehicle in front.”
