A mentoring programme run by City College Norwich has made a young business dream come true.
Simon Linstead, managing director of Norwich-based Nurture Financial Planning, is a business mentor at the college's StartUp Lounge and one of his students, George Spicer, impressed him so much that he offered him a job.
It is the first time a mentor on the entrepreneurial skills course has employed a student.
Mr Linstead said: 'I think I can sense when there is a budding entrepreneurial talent in a young person.
'As I worked with George, who is only 19, the more I could see he had real maturity and great ideas.'
Once George had graduated from the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course he joined Nurture as a trainee adviser.
The StartUp Lounge brings students together with business mentors, as well as giving them the chance to develop their own enterprises in college and to take part in entrepreneurial activities and challenges.
George said: 'Simon Linstead and I worked closely together; I must have done something right for him to offer me a job.'
City College spokesman Jim Goreham said: 'This is the first time one of the mentors has employed a student.'
